Lighting....

I think learning lighting is essential, this may be a refresher for some, but i think its a good refresher.  To get those amazing catchlights in eyes you have to have a direct light source.  This is either the sun, or a strobe, or some sort of artificial lighting.  You want that light source to directly make contact with your subject.  Okay I here the questions already, but if we have our subject towards the light, they will be squinty and have horrible lighting.  Yes this is true, this is why we look for diffused lighting, or you can use a reflector.  A reflector can be even pavement or something to that extent.  Before I get further in depth with lighting, I think its a good idea to experiment with a subject (a cooperative one being ideal ;) ) Take your subject in a shaded area (good lighting) and take a picture with your subject facing each direction (N,S,E,W) and then take a look at how even the slightest turn makes your light differ.  Notice that when your subject faces the light source (even in the shade) they have beautimous catchlights! So come on lets go out there and play! I want to see your favorite angle of lighting and let us know what time of day you took the picture at as well.  The temperature of light differs as well from morning to night.
